Unlike some large catering companies we don't have a set menu that you have to choose from. No, we do have set menus but we know that if you're getting married, for example, and it's your special day, you might want something a little specific... well, we'll do our best to satisfy your every wish on the food front and catering front.

We work at our best when we meet our clients over coffee, sitting down to really understand what it is that you really want. We'll go through menus, dietary issues, seasonality, wine lists and more. We have a long list of local suppliers that we like to use and we always know what is going to be around in the vegetable patch at any time of the year.

Rhubarb as a company has been around since 2008 but Jo Trendall, the owner, has been involved in the catering trade for over ten years. Our chefs have a wide range of experience and take great pleasure in preparing for all occasions.

Matai particularly enjoys butchery, foraging for his own food, fishing and preparing his own catch, cooking over open fires and eating outdoors. The whole team bring together into the mix their own passions for food and deliver the goods as a well oiled machine.

Rhubarb Catering from Bristol have recently become Catering Company in residence at Folly farm in Chew Magna. It’s very fitting that this city-based catering company should move out to the countryside, closer to the source of their ingredients as the core team met and worked together at Quartier Vert (formally Rocinantes or The Tapas Bar- a restaurant in Bristol that pioneered organic, locally sourced and seasonal food for over twenty years).

Rhubarb Catering are now in the heart of the countryside where they can be in constant contact with their suppliers some of whom are within ten minutes of Folly Farm. This means that Jo Trendall, the owner of Rhubarb Catering, and her chefs, Matai and Nic can choose their vegetable from the fields from which they are grown. It’s Rhubarbs preference to use farmers that don’t use the herbicides and pesticides that are so common in modern farming techniques.

The chefs at Rhubarb Catering are both from New Zealand and they enjoy cooking great meat and fish feasts on a barbeque and growing their own food (outdoors in an allotment and also indoors in a green house). This team are true foodies, living for food, drink and hospitality. The make great use of what’s in season from nettles and wild garlic in spring and early summer to foraged mushrooms from secret locations in the autumn.

Their wide ranging experience from an hotel renowned for it patisserie in New Zealand to cooking for the meg-rich on super yachts in the Mediterranean, and the wealth of knowledge picked up from working in some of the West Country’s best known restaurants make them an ideal choice for any catering event that you may be planning.
